3/1/2010 - Disposal of Debris/ Garbage on Crown Lands

Crime Stoppers and the Department of Natural Resources are asking the public for their help in resolving an on-going problem on Crown Lands.

Disposing of debris, gagbage, construction material, or vehicles on Crown Lands is an offence under the Crown Lands and Forests Act.  Any person convicted of this offence could be fined a minimum of $500.00 for the first offense, and may be ordered to restore the land to its original state.  This problem is not restricted to Crown Lands.  Numerous private land owners have also experienced an increase in this illegal activity.

Disposing of debris can be harmful to wildlife and a risk for forest fires.  If near watercourses, it can become an environmental problem.  Help keep New Brunswick clean, and report those who litter.

2/22/2010 - Theft and Mischief - Lepreau

Crime Stoppers and District 1 RCMP, St. George Detachment, are looking for the person or persons responsible for theft and mischief in Lepreau, New Brunswick.

 

Between Saturday September 29th and Monday October 1st, 2007, a grey Morooka crawler belonging to NB Power was stolen. It was parked on the East side of Rte 790, and driven several kilometres to a gravel pit on Seven Mile Lake Road. The crawler was used to knock over a rock crusher which sustained damages to it’s frame and tracks. The Marooka was later found 600 metres from Rte 790 & Seven Mile Lake Road intersection against a tree. Damages to both pieces of equipment are estimated to be $80,000. The police are asking the public for their assistance in solving this case of theft and mischief.

2/15/2010 - Hit and Run Causing Death - Dalhousie

Crime Stoppers and the District 9 RCMP (Dalhousie detachment) are looking for the driver of a hit and run vehicle who fatally struck an elderly pedestrian in Dalhousie, New Brunswick.

 

On February 26 2007, at around midnight, 76-year-old Georges Gauvin was fatally struck in front of the Tim Horton’s restaurant situated at 414 William Street in Dalhousie. The driver failed to remain at the scene of the accident and provide immediate medical assistance to Mr. Gauvin, who later died from his injuries in hospital. Police would like the public to come forward with any information which could help locate the driver involved in this hit and run causing death.

2/8/2010 - Synthetic Drugs - RCMP

Crime Stoppers and the RCMP Drugs and Organized Crime Awareness Services are asking the public to report any activity relating to the production and distribution of synthetic drugs in New Brunswick.

Synthetic drugs and their harmful effects seem to be underestimated by many New Brunswickers.  These drugs are produced and distributed by organized crime groups who combine highly addictive, harmful and toxic chemicals together.  It is impossible to tell what is in these extremely addictive pills, and the people selling them are only concerned about profit.  Their consumption can have very negative medical effects and can even cause death.  Help us protect our children, our youth and the well being of our communities.

2/1/2010 - Hit and Run Causing Death - Saint John (Repeat)

Crime Stoppers and the Saint John Police Force are looking for the driver of a hit and run vehicle who struck a pedestrian on Loch Lomond Road in Saint John, New Brunswick.

On Saturday December 9th 2006, at around 10:20 P.M., 70 year old Gilvert Savoie had been dropped off by a friend, adjacent to 3291 Loch Lomond Road.  While crossing the road, he was struck by a vehicle which left the scene heading in a westerly direction.  Mr. Savoie was taken to hospital where he later died from his injuries.  Parts from the suspect vehicle recovered at the accident scenen are believed to be from a 1992 to a 1995 Mazda, beige in color.  Damage to the driver`s front fender, hood and windshield were possible.  A local autobody or windshield repair shop may have worked on this vehicle.

1/25/2010 - Illegal Smuggling at the Border

Law enforcement agencies in New Brunswick and the state of Maine are Responsible for the security of our borders.  Anyone crossing without reporting to ports of entry are committing a criminal offence.

The RCMP Integrated Border Enforcement Team which is a partnership between the RCMP, Canada Border Services Agency, The United States Border Patrol, US Customs, US Immigration and Customs Enforcement are constantly patrolling our borders looking for smugglers.  As an "Enterprise Crime" any vehicle or earnings gained from this type of illegal activity can be seized.  Crossing into the United States and Canada without reporting is an offence.  Penalties include fines of up to $1,000,000 and/or life in prison.

1/18/2010 - Arson - Kedgwick

Crime Stoppers and the District 9 R.C.M.P., Saint-Quentin Detachment, are looking for the persons responsible for setting two fires in Kedgwick, New Brunswick.

On Friday, February 20th, and on Wednesday, March 18th, 2009 the St-Quentin RCMP and Kedgwick Fire Fighters resonded to two separate fires at "le Casse-Croûte du Coin" Situated at 64 Notre Dame Street in Kedgwick.  Investigation revealed that both fires were purposely set.  Damages incurred on both occasions were severe.  In one incident, two suspects were captured on a security camera inside the building.  Police are asking the public for information that may halp solve theses cases of arson.

1/11/2010 - Hit and Run Causing Death - Saint John

Crime Stoppers and the Saint John Police Force are looking for the driver of a hit and run vehicle who struck Roger Cameron on Rothesay Avenue in Saint John, New Brunswick.

Over 7 years ago, on Sunday September 8th, 2002 at approximately 3:00 a.m. Roger Cameron was heading home in his wheel chair.  He was traveling Eastbound on Rothesay Avenue, when he was struck from behind.  The driver failed to remain at the scene of the accident and provide assistance.  Witnesses told police that the vehicle stopped briefly then drove off at a high rate of speed.  The vehicle was described as a light blue Lumina van, (with no roof rack).  It was distinguished by it`s brake lights, which are located on both sides of the rear upper portion of the van.  Police believe there is someone who has information that could help solve this case.

1/4/2010 - Alcool NB Liquor

Don`t provide to person under 19!

Crime Stoppers and Alcool NB Liquor would like to draw your attention to a persistent problem in New Brunswick.  That of providing alcoholic beverages to persons under the age of nineteen.

Under the Liquor Control Act, Section 137(1) it is a serious offence to provide alcoholic beverages to any person under the age of 19.  Not only is it illegal and socially unacceptable, the fine for a first offence is set at $292.50.  For a subsequent conviction you can be fined up to $5,120.  Don`t be persuaded to provide alcohol to a person under 19, thinking you`re doing them a favour.  The result could end up being detrimental.

12/28/2009 - Hit and Run Causing Death - Fredericton

New Brunswick Crime Stoppers and the Fredericton Police Department are looking for the driver of a hit and run vehicle who fatally struck Diane Trottier.

On Saturday August 29th, 2009, at approximately 11:35 p.m., Diane Trottier was fatally struck at the intersection of Beaverbrook and Regent Street.  Ms. Trottier was crossing the street in her motorized wheelchair when struck by a vehicle traveling east on Beaverbrook Street.  Witnesses told police the suspect vehicle traveled through the intersection at a very high rate of sppeed, and accelerated after striking Ms. Trottier.  She later died in hospital from her injuries.  The vehicle is described as being a dark colored 4 door car.  Police believe someone has information that could help solve this case.
